Lake time!

I wouldn't trade our home for anything, but sometimes I do wish the weather would be a little more predictable. Or maybe at least consistent? It'd make it easier to plan outings. Take this early June weekend for example.

Day 1: Blue skies. No clouds at all. Not too hot. We took the dogs up to Mirror Lake and down the PCT. Perfect. Not even any bugs to speak of.

Day 2: A quick trip up Mount Catherine started wet and then I was in fresh snow? Not unheard of, but this is pretty low for June freshiez. Dogs loved it, though.

Day 3: We went east for SCIENCE! The whitebark pine project was extended into summer so we hiked a little traveled trail through prime habitat and found quite a few. At the trailhead it snowed, then it cleared up, then the clouds rolled in, and when we got to the high point (and cliffed out from our original route), the trees were coated in rime ice.

Day 3.5: I'd found a pinch collar (aka "power steering collar") just Tilly's size on Mt. Catherine so Clara and I took the little monster for a walk with her new adventure jewelry. I always think dogs are dumb, but she caught on really quick. And we had a nice little walk in the pouring rain.

At the end of it, Tilly and Tink were completely wiped out and I had gear that would take a couple of days to dry. All-in-all, a really good weekend even if the weather didn't always cooperate.
