What is this madness?

Did you really think there would be any rest for tiny Tilly? No, of course not. She's a Moosefish dog now. She's a hiker now.

Not that she can (or should) hike very far. She's only seven weeks old, after all. And she can't go where there have been other dogs. So we found a (relatively) isolated spot where it'd be easy to see evidence of other dogs: the very snowy PCT.

Clara assisted getting both dogs to the trailhead. We've been there many times for short and long hikes, though sadly not the long hike all the way to Mexico.

Once away from the parking area, we placed Tilly on the snow. You could almost see the betrayal in her eyes. "Why are my feet cold? What am I standing on? Why aren't we at home?" Get used to, it, sweetie. This is your life now.

We slowly climbed through the trees. Tink sprinted and leaped as is her way. Tilly crept along warily. Clara and I postholed. Tilly fell in the holes and scrambled out. We made it about an eighth of a mile before turning back. It was perfect.

I remember lots of tiny hikes like this with Tinkham and she is now a perfect hiking partner. Patience will pay off.

📍 On the lands of the Snoqualmie people.
