Up. Our mornings are all about up. Sometimes it's a mellow slope. Sometimes not so much. The best trips wind us up with great views. When the weather wasn't as bad as it had been, we opted for a local favorite. And Lilly followed. Or actually she led. Dang kid is fast.
Until we were about half way up. She ran out of juice. A feeling I know well. Guess what we had? Sour Patch Kids. Full of juice. We continued. The depth of snow on the trail got deeper, but it was always firm enough to walk on.
The meadows were completely covered and the ridge to the summit was packed deep with snow. Lil kicked steps and I followed. When there was nowhere else to go, she turned to me and smiled. Hair blowing in the wind and breathing hard, but she made it.
A quick pic and and we turned to head down. In spite of the blue skies, it was chilly. And it was a long way down.
