Christmas in the Midwest can only mean one thing, right? A road trip!
First stop: The Hollow Earth Theory monument. Yeah. It's a real thing. That dude was crazy. He really thought there was a habitable space inside the earth. The park hosting the monument (and the main crazy's remains) also had dinosaur rocking horses. It was definitely worth a stop.
Second stop: Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical park. You know, Wilber, Orville, the bicycles. Poets. Poets? Yeah. There was a great section of the park all about Paul Laurence Dunbar. Totally new to me.
Third stop: Food. We made the 100% mistake of buying entirely too much chicken from Raising Cane's. Pro-tip: Buy WAY less than you think you'll need.
Fourth stop: Hoosier Hill - highest point in Indiana. If you were in Indiana, I was higher than you. Boom! Suck it! Kind of underwhelming, though, if we're being honest. It was a small wooded lot in the middle of flat fields. Still, it was better than...
Fifth stop: Campbell Hill - highest point in Ohio. Sure, Hoosier Hills was all of 0.04 miles from the car, but at least it wasn't in the middle of a vocational school's campus. (To be clear, being in the middle of any kind of campus would be lame.) Still, "Higher than you (if you were in Ohio), suckers!"
Sixth stop: By now you ought to be wondering how many stops could be rolled into this road trip. Well, this was the last one. And it deserves a post all its own. So stay tuned for... Ohio Caverns!
