* This was back in early November. You can bet it's completely snowed in now that it's December.
So I like to try to give back a bit. You know, do a little good for the world that has done so much good for me. This time it was just writing a trail guide entry for WTA for a short section of trail that doesn't get as much love as it should. No problem. I've been on that section twice before. Just a quick refresher and I'm good to go.
Except I didn't go in September. I didn't go in October. It wasn't until November that I finally laced up my shoes for the five mile approach hike. There was darkness, rain, standing water where the trail should have been. All the good stuff that screams, "FALLLLLL!"
Except when I got to where I needed to get to. That neglected 1.7 miles of trail that has no entry in the guide that was just waiting for me was buried in half a meter of snow. "FALLLLLL!" gave way to "WINTERRRRR!" I hadn't brought snowshoes so it was not to be.
Hopefully, I'll get off my butt earlier next season and give teh trail the attention it deserves.
