First, the bonus lesson: A quarter tank ain't enough. Don't believe the "X miles until empty". It's a lie. All a lie. We didn't get stuck, but we did coast down the mountain in neutral.
The plan was to park two cars and do a one-way trip from south to north ending at Tacoma Pass. Except anxiety about the fuel situation panicked me into stopping at Blowout Mountain.
Mist blew through and froze on the trees. We ate snacks and Tink looked over the edge. It got chilly pretty quickly signaling not just an end to our summit lounging but also to t-shirt hikes on the PCT.
We'll get keep chipping away at the trail next summer. Maybe we'll even spend another couple of nights on the trail. So many options!
