On this particular adventure we knew where we were going and roughly how to get there. Past Chair Peak Lake we'd need to find a way to turn the corner beneath the northern face of Chair Peak. If we figured it out, we'd be able to return through the Chair Peak basin to great acclaim (in my mind).

Of course, if I've started the post in this way, you can bet it didn't go. We got to the corner and found it was steeper and cliffier than expected. If there'd been more or less snow, we might have made an attempt higher on the shoulder, but alas, it was time to turn for home.

Don't feel sorry for us. We had a great time. And by "we" I mean me and Tink. Mr. HOS also had a good time, but he's holding this up as an exhibit of my lack of planning even though I clearly remember telling him of the possibility we'd return the way we came. Such is adventure. With me. Sorry.
