Well. We got further* than we have before. That's something, right?
The infamous project that's been bugging me for years got another attempt. This time, the boy came along. Unfortunately, so did my boot's last day. After 500+ miles, my trusty Mammut boots gave up the ghost. And by that I mean the sole came off while we were climbing. We tried to tie it back on, but that just left my cordage a mess. I pulled the sole completely off and was able to slide back down the steep duff, but that was all there was for this attempt.
We did get up higher than I have in the past. That meant we found another awesome piece of the waterfall that runs down the entire length of the route. We enjoyed the mist at the base of the falls and retreated back to the car.
And of course we stopped at the lower falls, too.
I'm hoping to get in one more attempt this year. I won't be carrying snowshoes next time, though.
* Yes, I know the difference between further and farther. It could have been either in this instance. We got more of the total done this time. Sigh.
