Ew gross

You know you've seen them on the trail. Plastic bags full of dog poop left by a conscientious dog owner. Of course, they intend to pick them up on their way back to the trailhead, but we humans are forgetful. Nobody would intentionally leave garbage like that, right?

Regardless of whether you think the best of people or the worst, here's a chance to help clean up our trails and maybe win some Deuter gear in the process. It's the...

Poop Fairy Challenge

From March 15, 2021, to September 15, 2021, we want you play the part of the Poop Fairy and clean up abandoned poop bags on trails and properly dispose them. (No poop? No problem! A handful of non-poopy trash will count just the same.)

For each poop bag or handful of trash you collect, you get a point. Post about it and I'll add it to your tally. There are monthly prizes and an end of season prize, too! All courtesy of Deuter.

Here's what you could win:

  • First Prize - One Deuter daypack (of winner's choosing) and Deuter Dirtbag will be awarded to a randomly selected participant at the end of the contest.

  • Second Prize - One Deuter Dirtbag will be awarded to each of the top five participants measured by total number of poop bags collected at the end of the contest.

  • Monthly Prizes - One Deuter Dirtbag will be awarded to the top participant measured by total number of poop bags collected each calendar month of the challenge. (Winners of a monthly challenge will not be eligible for subsequent monthly challenges, but will be eligible for the final prizes.)

Even if you pick and post about a single poop bag, you'll be entered to win the First Prize!

I'll post a running tally of collected poop bags here on moosefish.com, updated at least once a month.

Of course, there are rules and requirements:

  • Participants must post a photo or video to Instagram showing themselves collecting or disposing of abandoned poop bags or equivalent amounts of trash.

  • Participants must provide a count of collected poop bags in the post. Poop bags and trash produced by participant's party count toward the total.

  • Participants must follow and tag @moosefish and @deuter_usa in the post.

  • Participants must include the hashtag #PoopFairyChallenge in the post.

  • Participant posts showing violations of laws, LNT principles, or violation of United States CDC COVID-19 guidance will not count toward the contest.

  • Deuter employees and ambassadors are encouraged to participate, but are not eligible for prizes.

Good luck!
