It seems forever ago that I was able to put on boots, pack dog treats, an head into the wilderness. In fact, it was just two months ago, but after such a year as we had, it seems like the distant past.
This was not a crazy epic adventure. It wasn't that special. I only followed this route as part of my goal to connect all the trails from Snoqualmie Pass to the Middle Fork. Earlier in the year, I had dreams of doing it all in one long day. Alas, life conspired to keep me from that adventure so I'm piecing it together.
What did make this trip special, if only in hindsight, is it was the last time I was out with just the dog on a new trail.
And the sun and the clouds and the snow and all the rest, of course.
From here on out, it was just little walks in the woods on mellow trails and old roads. Hip surgery was two months out and even though I'd traditionally be making the most of awesome early season powder, those hikes were just long enough to keep me from going completely off my rocker.
