More fishing/pictures of ducks? Sheesh. Don't you ever hike anymore? (Yes, but spice of life and all that.)

And six ducks were given that day

Fishing used to be my thing, but then dogs and kids made fishing harder and hiking seemed a simpler way to get our adventure on. Already this year has been full of way more fishing than previous years. Remember the Kiritimati Island trip back in January and the trip when the kids pretended to fish just a few days ago? Unfortunately, this trip is far more of the paddle around chasing ducks on a local lake than chasing bonefish on the equator.

While us elders fished (and actually caught fish -- it does happen when you try) the kids paddled around chasing the ducks. Clara took the more cautious approach (partially because she was being towed by me and partially because that's just her) and was rewarded with close ups with a bunch of different ducklings.

Some looked like you probably imagine a duckling would look like. Others looked like handfuls of fluff with some sticks accidentally included. One clutch swam around in a group chasing mom while another couple were practicing their diving skills.

When the wind kicked up and a light rain started to fall the kids retreated to the cars while the fisherfolk got a few more casts in knowing it was likely the last fishing trip of the summer.

And of course, we ended the adventure with ice cream. It definitely won't be the last ice cream of the summer or even the weekend.
