Legend tells of a legendary lookout perched high in the mountains with legendary views all around. The route to this lookout was lost to mere mortals when a legendary stop destroyed the road. Only the most legendary of climbers dared attain the lofty summit via a long road walk.
And then the Forest Service fixed the road so it was only an easy half mile ramble.
But our conquest of the Red Top Lookout was still legendary!
Legendary in the company we were in. Aunts! Uncles! Cousins! Dogs!
Legendary in the drive to the trailhead.
Legendary in the perfect weather that graced our climb.
Legendary in the amount of food the kids ate.
And legendary in the bad business practice of a certain company in Cle Elum that will certainly never get my business.
We survived the legendary adventure to tell the tale. Rest assured, the more times we tell it, the more legendary it shall become!
